Georgia football entered its second week of preseason practices on Thursday.

There’s still more than three weeks to go before the opener at Clemson.

That’s practice time that redshirt freshman transfer quarterback Jaden Rashada can use to get more comfortable in the Bulldogs offense after joining the Bulldogs following spring practices from Arizona State.

The Bulldogs quarterbacks behind Carson Beck include redshirt sophomore Gunner Stockton and true freshman Ryan Puglisi. Rashada is the most-high profile of those behind Beck as a former five-star who initially signed with Florida and is suing FGators coach Billy Napier and others for a $13.85 million NIL deal that collapsed.

“We’ve love to have got Jaden before spring,” offensive coordinator Mike Bobo said Thursday. “It didn’t work out that way. He was able to get here early May and start trying to learn the playbook. He’s in the process of learning it now."

Stockton threw two touchdowns and completed 6 of 10 passes for 96 yards while rushing for 46 yards against undermanned Florida State in the Orange Bowl blowout.

“All of those guys are doing an outstanding job every day of coming in and controlling what they can control,” Bobo said.

Beck set the tone in the first meeting of the preseason, Bobo said.

He said Beck told them: “You need to take this camp like you’re getting ready to play Clemson the first game. I didn’t do that when I was young. I wasn’t taking advantage of every opportunity be the starter.”

Bobo, who started as quarterbacks coach at Georgia in 2001 under Mark Richt, said that’s a message he’s delivered to quarterbacks throughout his coaching career.

“They’re learning from their mistakes and learning from the things that they do well,” Bobo said.
