Atlanta Braves v Washington Nationals - Game One

A few weeks ago, reports began to emerge that Columbus, Georgia was in the process of looking to become the new home of a minor league baseball team in the near future. Among the teams listed were the Mississippi Braves. On Tuesday, the Mississippi Braves confirmed that their new home will be Columbus starting in 2025:

As a result, this will be the final season that the Braves Double A affiliate will call the Pearl/Jackson, Mississippi area home. The 2024 season will be the 20th season the Braves Double A team has played in Pearl. It will also be their final season in Mississippi.

Many of the Atlanta Braves best players currently and over the past two decades have played for the Mississippi Braves at one time or another. Brian Snitker was the Mississippi Braves manager in their inaugural season back in 2005. Over time, the Mississippi Braves have won two league titles, most recently in 2021.

While it certainly is the end of an era in Mississippi, it is also the beginning of a new opportunity for the Braves Double-A Affiliate as it moves closer to the big league club.
